PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scale inhibitor for hot spring effective for preventing scale over a long period without interrupting the pumping-up of hot spring, and a scale preventing method for hot spring water using the same. SOLUTION: The scale inhibitor for hot spring water contains at least one kind of a compound (a) selected from aspartic acid, iminodisuccinic acid, polyaspartic acid and alkali metal salts of them, and at least one kind of a compound (b) selected from phosphonic acid, phosphinic acid, a polycarboxylic acid and alkali metal salts of them.
