CONFIGURATION DEVICE AND SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process control network executing a process control function in a decentralized or distributed manner by performing control function using a communication protocol based on a bus including a protocol supporting both a protocol other than that using a field device or a two line bus and analog/digital communication. SOLUTION: A segment 10 in a process control network using a field bus communication protocol includes a two-line bus 12 connected with a large number of field devices 13 and 14. Furthermore, a standard field bus configurator 16 and a device/network (dual mode) configurator 20 are connected with the bus 12. The field devices 13 and 14 may be any type of field bus devices whereas the field bus configurator 16 is an arbitrary standard or existing configurator being connected with the bus 12 in order to configure the segment 10 using a field bus protocol. Additional or different devices including other field device, controller and host device, can be connected with the bus 12 as required.
