PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength ceramic-coated porous sintered compact by sufficiently coating the surface of a porous sintered ceramic base material with a porous sintered ceramic layer having pore diameter, porosity or the like different from those of the base material without causing strain, fractures, cracks or the like, and to provide a method for producing the sintered compact. SOLUTION: At least one part of the surface of the porous sintered ceramic base material having consecutive sphere form open pores mutually communicating is coated with the porous sintered ceramics layer having a grain-coupled structure.
