PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a player and a playing method which enable a user to practice playing at a tempo desired by the user. SOLUTION: The note data to be subjected to sound production next is read out of a ROM 5 at the timing meeting a tempo value and the prediction timing to make an on operation of a playing operating element 1 is calculated according to the sound production timing indicated by this note data and the tempo value. When the playing operating element is operated to be turned on near the prediction timing, the tempo value is updated according to the timing at which the element is operated to be turned on and the prediction timing. When the timing at which the element is operated to be turned on is the same as the prediction timing or is slightly faster than the same, the previously read out note data are reproduced and on the other hand, when the timing at which the element is operated to be turned on is slower than the prediction timing, the read note data are not reproduced and further, the next note data are read out of a memory means and is reproduced. |
