PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for accurately mounting a prism such as a cross dichroic prism used for a projector in a prescribed position on a base frame. SOLUTION: The projector is provided with an illumination optical system, a color light separation optical system for separating light beams emitted from the illumination optical system into 1st to 3rd color light beams having three color components, respectively, 1st to 3rd electro-optical devices for modulating the 1st to 3rd color light beams in accordance with image information and generating 1st to 3rd modulated light beams, a color light synthesizing optical system for compositing the 1st to 3rd modulated light beams, a projection optical system for projecting the synthesized light emitted from the color light synthesizing optical system, and the base frame for mounting optical components arranged on the optical path from the illumination optical system to the projection optical system. The cross dichroic prism is used as the color light synthesizing optical system, and the prism is directly stuck on the base frame. |
