PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication control system that allows an AAL2 SAR(ATM Adaptation Layer type 2 Segmentation And Reassembly sub-layer) to inform an external circuit about a profile type of packet data. SOLUTION: The AAL2 SAR 10 disassembles ATM cells from an ATM network 11 into packets to extract packet data. The AAL2 SAR 10 and a profile type valid flag demultiplexer section 16 store the same information consisting of profiles 20 denoting compression systems of the packet data, the AAL2 SAR 10 multiplexes received packet data on a time base and gives the result to a packet data demultiplexer section 15, and the AAL2 SAR 10 multiplexes type values of the corresponding profiles 20 and gives the result to the profile type valid flag demultiplexer section 16. The packet data demultiplexer section 15 demultiplexes the packet data and gives the data to compression expansion function sections 12-14, and the profile type valid flag demultiplexer section 16 supplies valid data flags denoting whether or not the packet data are effective synchronously with the packet data to corresponding sections of the compression expansion function sections 12-14.
