PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability and safety in the disc cutter replacing work in the tunnel excavator and cutter replacing method. SOLUTION: In a shield excavator, a cutter head 14 is installed in a driving and rotating manner to the front portion of the excavator main body 11, a plurality of saddles 37 are fixed to a cutter spoke 15 of the cutter head 14, a rotating body 41 rotatable about the shaft center O1 in the radial direction of the cutter head 14 is installed to each saddle 37, a disc cutter 16 is detachably installed to the front portion of this rotating body 41, a worm gear 53 of the saddle 37 is forced to mesh with a worm wheel 51 of the rotating body 41, the rotating body 41 is rotated and the disc cutter is faced rearward, and the disc cutter 16 is made replaceable in a replacing chamber 31. |
