PURPOSE: A method for controlling the search of a mobile station and the beam forming in a base station of mobile communication employing a smart antenna is provided to form an optimum beam by controlling the power of linear power amplifier at an initial search of a mobile station. CONSTITUTION: When a system is initialized(S101), a weight is applied to one array antenna among a plurality of array antennas(S102). Depending on the weight applied to the array antenna, beams covering all directions are formed to search a mobile station(S103). It is determined that the location of the mobile station is detected(S104). If the location of mobile station is detected, beams are formed by varying the power of the linear power amplifier depending on the location of the mobile station(S105).
