PURPOSE: An apparatus for reading an optical disk is provided to easily improve reproducing performance and minimize error rate. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for reading of an optical disk having data recorded along a predefined track, comprises an optical pickup(3) for irradiating optical beams on an optical disk having data recorded so as to be optically read and detecting the reflected light or transmitted light; a comparator(7) having a first input terminal connected to the optical pickup, a second input terminal for inputting a reference signal, and an output terminal for translating the output compared into a binary signal by comparing the optical pickup output with the reference signal; a reference signal forming circuit connected between an output terminal and the second input terminal of the comparator; a demodulator circuit(12) connected to the comparator; and an error rate detector unit for detecting errors of the data demodulated from the demodulator circuit. The reference signal forming circuit forms a reference signal by correcting the output of a low pass filter to reduce error rate.
