PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate such problems that in the case of a barber/beauty salon chair having an AC inductive electric motor as the driving source, a slow start or a slow stop by a trapezoidal wave control or the like of the speed are not performed without incorporating an expensive frequency converter, and as a result, a shock is generated at the times of starting and stopping, and an uncomfortable feeling or a fright is given to a seated person to be treated. SOLUTION: In this barber/beauty salon chair having the AC inductive electric motor as the driving source, the effective value of an AC voltage to be applied at the start of the tilting of a backrest, or the vertical movement of a seat section is controlled in a manner to be gradually raised. Also, at the time of stopping, the AC voltage effective value to be applied is controlled in a manner to be gradually lowered for this shock preventive device at the times of starting and stopping of the barber/beauty salon chair.
