EXPANDABLE POLYSTYRENE RESIN PARTICLE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an expandable polystyrene resin particle which provides an expanded polystyrene resin molding whose heat insulation efficiency shows a best heat insulation effect when the cell diameter of a foam has a specific average chord length and in which a change of the cell diameter of the foam with time from immediately after manufacture to an ineffective cell diameter is substantially prevented, and to obtain the expandable polystyrene resin particle capable of manufacturing the molding having good flame resistance. SOLUTION: The flame resisting expandable polystyrene resin particle and a method of manufacturing the same comprises including 0.1-6 pts.wt. of a halogen flame retardant and a specific amount of a specific cell regulating agent in 100 pts.wt. of a polystyrene resin. The molding formed from the expandable polystyrene resin particle may have an average chord length of the cut surface cell diameter in the range of 90-200μm and is excellent in heat insulation efficiency and a surface property.
