PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet stock for a positive polarity can which achieves the improvement of the battery characteristics of an alkali manganese battery. SOLUTION: In the plated steel sheet for the positive polarity can of an alkali manganese battery, an Ni based diffusion plated layer is formed on the face to be used as the inside face of the can, and the surface layer is provided with many submicron pinholes. Desirably, the size of the submicron pinholes is 0.1 to 1μm, and the number thereof is 30 pieces/(10μm×10μm) or more by observation with SEM. Further, desirably, the face to be used as the outside face of the can is provided with an Fe-Ni diffusion plated layer, and the surface thereof is provided with a recrystallized and softened Ni plated layer. |
