PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy management system for surely performing power monitoring and control of a power management object with diversified power supply forms from a remote place by highly reliable communication using a network having a backup line. SOLUTION: Generated output in a small generator 16 in a facility 2 and power supply to the facility 2 are detected, these pieces of electric power information are reported to a monitoring control center 1 through a network consisting of a flat-rate service network 10 and an ISDN line exchange network 11, the center 11 controls the generator 16 through the network in accordance with the electric power demand in the facility 2 calculated on the basis of the reported electric power information, and in the case the flat-rate service network 10 being a main line used usually as a network fails, the ISDN line exchange network 11 being the backup line is used instead of the main line to perform communication.
