PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and reliable method for producing isolongifolanol that is feasible on an industrial scale, starting from a cost-effective raw material. SOLUTION: The method for producing isolongifolanol comprises (a) epoxidation of isolongifolene to form isolongifolene oxide, (b) rearrangement of isolongifolene oxide in the presence of base to form isolongifolenol and (c) reduction of isolongifolenol to form isolongifolanol.
