PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide UV irradiation type water cleaning equipment which is capable of efficiently decomposing materials to be decomposed by assuring a sufficient reaction time without the attenuation of light intensity of UV rays by air bubbles and without narrowing of a permeation range. SOLUTION: A reaction chamber of the UV irradiation type water cleaning equipment which decomposes and cleans the materials to be decomposed in the liquid to be treated in the reaction chamber by irradiating the liquid to be treated with the UV rays has a dissolving section which rises the gas introduced into the liquid to be treated as the air bubbles and dissolves the gas into the liquid to be treated and a UV irradiation section which effects the decomposition of the materials to be decomposed by the irradiation with the UV rays while being communicated with the dissolving section. The UV irradiation type water cleaning equipment and water cleaning method are characterized in that the formation of the turning low circulating in the dissolving section and the UV irradiation section in the liquid to be treated by utilizing the ascending force of the air babbles in the dissolving section is made possible.
