PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leakage test method which can be employed by using a simple, small-sized apparatus and by which the load on a hollow yarn membrane module during leakage test can be decreased. SOLUTION: A hollow yarn membrane module has the first flow-in port 8a and first flow-out port 8b communicating to the first zone of inner cavities of a hollow yarn membrane and the second flow-in port 9a and second flow-out port 9b communicating to the second zone of the outside of the hollow yarn membrane. While the first flow-in port is kept closed and the second flow-out port is kept capable of allowing a liquid to flow out, the second flow-out port is closed and a liquid is supplied from the second flow-in port to the second zone to cause the liquid in the second zone to permeate the hollow yarn membrane in the direction to the first zone, thus filling the micropores of the hollow yarn membrane with the liquid. Then, the first flow-in port is closed; the first flow-out port is communicated to a measuring system; and at least either the second flow-in port or the second flow-out port is kept open. In such a state, a gas is introduced from the measuring system into the first zone to pressurize to a predetermined pressure; then, pressurizing is stopped; and the change in pressure is measured to detect leakage.
