PURPOSE: A system and method for exchanging online information through a critical path is provided so that a client, who uses many IP addresses, can transmit and receive online information through the most optimal path. CONSTITUTION: A client transmits information about a connective IP address, used to connect with a server, to the server primarily(S1). The server compares the connective IP address with the client's IP address, actually connected through a router, and judges whether the client is using a private network(S2). In case that it is judged that the client is using the private network, the server transmits the first response information to the client(S4). In response to the server's notification, the client secondarily transmits information about usable IP addresses to the server in order to search for a critical path(S5). The server transmits the second response information to all the IP addresses contained in the secondarily transmitted information(S6). The client searches for an IP address, to which the second response information is transmitted most quickly(S7). The client exchanges online information with the server through the searched IP address that provides the critical path(S8).
