PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding releasing unit capable of cutting various type moldings having different positions of gates into products and runners in a high accuracy by using a single nipper member and being reduced in size in the unit itself and a method for cutting the gate, to provide a molding releasing unit capable of simplifying a work when a nipper unit is mounted and enhancing an efficiency of a releasing work and the method for cutting the gate and to provide a molding releasing unit capable of cutting the gates of various type moldings by a single nipper unit and the method for cutting the gate. SOLUTION: The molding releasing unit releases the molding by controlling a movement of a chuck unit for holding the molding including the plurality of products at the runner between a mold position and a releasing position out of the mold of a molding machine. The releasing unit comprises the nipper unit having the nipper member for cutting the gate of the molding by operating to open or close a pair of cutters by a servo motor controllable at its rotary angle at a releasing position side. The releasing unit controls to rotate the nipper member by the servo motor in response to each gate position of the molding to dispose the cutters at each gate position of the molding held by the chuck unit.
