PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasive film that is suitable for use in end polishing of an optical fiber connector and can form an appreciable polished surface, and a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The abrasive film 1 has a backing film 2 and an abrasive layer 3 formed on the backing film 2 and from at least abrasive grains 4 and a binder resin 6. The abrasive layer 3 has fine recessed grooves 5 in the surface. The recessed grooves 5 are preferably formed at pitches in a range of 5 to 200μm, and the abrasive grains 4 preferably have a given mean grain size in a range of 0.5 to 5μm. The abrasive film manufacturing method applies an abrasive layer coating liquid comprising the abrasive grains, the binder resin and a solvent whose 5 wt.% or more is hydrophilic to form a coating layer, and dries and solidifies the coating layer to form the abrasive layer whose surface is provided in this step with the fine recessed grooves in a hexagonal pattern based on a Benard cell phenomenon. |
