PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a ceramic-made or metal-made porous hollow fiber having no warpage and excellently uniform porosity and pore size. SOLUTION: This porous hollow fiber is manufactured by forming a hygroscopic film from a film forming original liquid consisting of an organic solvent of a film-formable macromolecular substance filled with ceramic powder or metallic powder and roasting the obtained composite film in such a state that a support withstanding the roasting temperature is inserted in the inner tube part of the composite film.
