PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very useful perfume composition which can impart unique flavor and taste characteristics inaccessible so far in a wide area of applications, e.g. various foods and drinks, and scented cosmetics. SOLUTION: The perfume composition contains as the effective constituent an α-hydroxyketone compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 may be the same or different and are each H or a 1-10C straight chain or branched alkyl group, except for the cases where all of R1 to R5 are H at the same time, where R1 is isopropyl, R2, R3 and R4 are each H, and R5 is methyl, and where R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each H, and R5 is isobutyl). |
