PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition which satisfies general characteristics required for AM-LCD, and simultaneously has a wide nematic phase range, low viscosity, a low threshold voltage and a large pretilt angle. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal composition is characterized by comprising a component I comprising at least one compound selected from compounds of formulas (I-1) to (I-3), a component II comprising at least one compound selected from compounds of formulas (II-1) to (II-4), a component III comprising at least one compound selected from compounds of formulas (III-1) and (III-2), and a component IV comprising at least one selected from compounds of formulas (IV-1) to (IV-3). In the formulas (I-1) to (IV-3), R and R' are each independently a 2 to 7C alkyl; Y is each independently H or F; (n) is an integer of 0 to 4. |
