PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a competitive price high pressure discharge lamp, a high pressure discharge lamp lighting device and car headlight using the high pressure discharge lamp provided with a built-in high voltage HV generator, in a compact size and with a HV charger being not exposed externally and upon easily manufactured. SOLUTION: This device encapsulates an internal discharge medium and has a pair of the electrode 2 and the insulation tube 5 extended towards the tube direction in series with one part of a sealer 1b of the transparent airtight container 1 equipped with the electrode 2. It builds in the light-emitting tube 1b extended externally by inserting the secondary lead wire 4 within through the insulation tube 5, the pulse transformer 7 having a primary winding 7b and the secondary winding 7c equipped with the core to pass the insulation tube through the turn of the coil and the charging- discharging capacitor and switch. HV side of the secondary winding is to be connected with the secondary lead wire 4 and HV generator 1 is facilitated within this device connected together to apply the external voltage between the pair of an electrode simultaneously by connecting LV low voltage with the primary lead wire 3 via the lighting circuit device.
