PURPOSE: A method for treating excess sludge produced from sewage/wastewater treatment process and apparatus therefor are provided, which are characterized in that excess sludge is oxidized by ozone or supersonic waves, and oxidized sludge is decomposed biologically. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of oxidation of excess sludge produced from sewage/wastewater treatment process using ozone or supersonic waves in a pretreatment tank(6); biological treatment of oxidized sludge by aerobic microorganism in a bioreactor(7); and recycling sludge produced from the bioreactor(7) into the pretreatment tank(6). Optionally. solid/liquid separation process by membrane is installed between the first step and the second step.
