PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design a degree of advance detection mechanism which realizes racing patterns in the actual horse racing by making the altering of running courses and the positioning of self-running bodies match situations of racing hoses in real time while ensuring that the individual self running bodies run in a more actual fashion and smoothly and enables accurate detection of the degrees of advance of the individual self-running bodies even when they cause running troubles such as retracting or reversing. SOLUTION: An N pole line of magnetism and an S pole line of magnetism are arranged alternately on running courses of racing horses at the right angle to induction lines to make magnetic degree of advance lines 15. Two magnetic sensors are arranged being shifted longitudinally on the undersurface of each of the individual self-running bodies 3 facing the magnetic degree of advance lines and pulse signals from the magnetic sensors generated by the crossing of the magnetic degree of advance lines to detect the degrees of advance. A central controller determines the situations of racing horses while racing based on the degree of advance signals of the self-running bodies and transmits commands for transferring and altering speeds to the self-running bodies according to the situations of racing horses.
