<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical switch which is small, consumes low power, supports multichannel and is excellent in a quickly responding property. SOLUTION: The optical switch has two or more adjacent nonlinear optical elements with different transmittances. The transmittances of the nonlinear optical elements increase or decrease in response to intensity of an external field applied to the nonlinear optical elements. A position of a signal light radiated from the optical switch changes.</p> |
