PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt device capable of appropriately absorbing an impact energy applied to an occupant in a vehicle accident by a simple structure and a safe and sure mechanism without obstructing functions of other members of the seat belt device. SOLUTION: This seat belt device for the vehicle is provided with a seat belt 12, a holder 16 constituted to be fitted to the vehicle, and a bending device 14 for the seat belt fitted to the holder 16 via an impact absorbing unit 18. The vending device 14 is so constituted to overcome a reaction in absorbing the impact of the impact absorbing unit and to be movable in the impact absorbing direction based on the tensile movement of the seat belt 12 caused by the vehicle accident. The bending device 14 is set into a fixed state when receiving an external force generated in a normal time and the impact absorbing unit 18 is so constituted as to change its shape according to the moving in the impact absorbing direction of the bending device 14.
