PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selecting method for golf ball, with which a golf ball suitable for a golfer can be suitably selected. SOLUTION: This method performs a step (A) for acquiring a head speed value and the back spin quantity of a hit ball when the golfer hits a ball with a club, a step (B) for acquiring data for ball type selection from the golfer for judging which type of ball is suitable for that golfer among a plurality of types, and a step (C) for selecting the ball of a type suitable for the golfer such as either distance type ball or control type ball, for example, so that the back spin quantity of the hit ball can be close to an optimal back spin quantity corresponding to the head speed value on the basis of the head speed value and the back spin quantity provided in the step (A) and the data for ball type selection provided in the step (B).
