摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical characteristics analysis method of an optically biaxial medium at oblique incidence capable of easily forecasting a polarization state change of oblique incident light and capable of improving optimization set efficiency of an optical element. SOLUTION: In the method for analyzing the optical characteristics of the medium, a Stokes parameter of the incident light is converted into the radiation light with the usage of Mueller matrix calculating element containing phase difference and an azimuth of the lag axis of vertical incident light as an element which is contained in a calculating element of an extended Johnes matrix method for converting an incident light vector of a medium having optical anisotropy into a radiation light vector. As for the phase difference and the azimuth of the lag axis contained in the Mueller matrix calculating element, the oblique incident light (Γ, Ψ) with respect to the optically biaxial medium is used instead of the vertical incident light (Δ, ϕc ).
