PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable miniature printer which can be operated easily at a required place and can print even on a sheet of large size. SOLUTION: The miniature ink jet printer comprises a pair of fixing bases 1 and 2 for designating the size of a print sheet, a movable section 8 which can reciprocate between the pair of fixing bases through a first driving steel band guide 10 in the form of a steel measuring tape having arcuate transverse section and an auxiliary steel band guide 9, an ink jet print head 17 linked with the movable section 8 to reciprocate in the direction orthogonal to the first driving steel band guide 10 through a second driving steel band guide 20 in the form of a steel measuring tape having arcuate transverse section, and first and second drive controllers 14 and 23 incorporated in the movable section 8 and moving the ink jet head in the X and Y directions according to a print digital signal.
