HIGH DENSITY MID-PLANE TYPE OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install an adaptor housing so as to be positioned in the center of the thickness of a mid-plane and to prevent the adaptor housing and a package housing from being deformed/destructed by the installation tolerance and errors. SOLUTION: The adaptor housing 10 is provided with a fitting part 15 for fitting the package housing 50 in a manner oppositely facing from both directions and a restraining part 14 for restraining the package housing 50, while the fitting part and the restraining part 14 are each symmetrically formed. The adaptor housing 10 is fixed on the mid-plane 3 through a spacer 20 having a prescribed length corresponding to the thickness of the mid-plane 3; as a result, the symmetry axis S-S' of the adaptor housing 10 can be installed so as to be positioned nearly in the center of the thickness of the mid-plane 3, which is the characteristic of the optical connector.
