PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disinfectant containing a new benzoylpyridine derivative or its salt. SOLUTION: This disinfectant is obtained by including a benzoylpyridine derivative represented by the formula (I) [wherein, X is a halogen, nitro, a (substituted)alkoxy, a (substituted)aryloxy, a (substituted)cycroalkoxy, hydroxy, a (substituted)hydrocarbon, a (substituted)alkylthio, cyano, an (esterified or amidated) carboxy or a (substituted)amino; n is 1, 2, 3 or 4; R<1> is a (substituted) alkyl; R<2> is a (substituted)alkyl, a (substituted)alkoxy, a (substituted)aryloxy, a (substituted)cycroalkoxy or hydroxy; m is 1, 2, 3 or 4; and, if m is >=2, R<2> may form a fused ring containing O] or a salt of the derivative.
