PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction extrusion method and a tool used therefor capable of successively and efficiently executing a massive amount of friction extrusion work without using such high extrusion pressure. SOLUTION: The friction extrusion method is characterized in that a metal material is friction-agitated by rotating the tool 1, pressing a tip end section 2 of the tool 1 to the metal material (material plate S) and the metal material is passed through an extrusion hole 3 which is pierced and formed into the tool 1. In the top end section 2 of the tool 1, a recessed section 4 communicating with the extrusion hole 3 is so formed as to be deeper gradually toward the extrusion hole 3. The whole part or a part of the recessed section 4 is preferably a vortical shape that converges in the backspin direction against the rotational direction of the tool 1 for the extrusion hole 3 from the outer peripheral edge of the tip end section 2 of the tool 1.
