PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device/method which has excellent operability by speedily performing picture display. SOLUTION: In the case of picking up the X-ray image of a subject by irradiating the subject with X-rays from an X-ray generation means 117, photographing preparing sequence driving of an image pickup means 101 is started before generating a radiation exposure request signal to the means 117. Furthermore, an operator interface means 114 for changing a photographing object is included to automatically switch a photographing procedure and another different photographing procedure with the instruction of photographing object selection from the operator interface means.
