PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a source material for feeds giving excellent effects for fattening cattle by using tea leaves having been sufficiently used as a beverage. SOLUTION: This source material for feeds comprises dried and pulverized residue of tea leaves after extracting tea from the tea leaves and contains catechin in the range of 2-5 mg/100 mg. It comprises dried and pulverized residue of tea leaves obtained by dehydrating the residue made by extracting tea from tea leaves to have 60-80 wt.% water content, subsequently drying the residue to have <10 wt.% water content and pulverizing the residue. The aforesaid dried and pulverized residue of tea leaves is obtained by drying the dehydrated tea leaves by hot air having a temperature range of 200-400 deg.C and has 0.1-1 mm average size.
