The invention relates to an implant for fixing adjacent bone plates of the skull bone, comprising an inner contact element, which covers a separating gap between the bone plates, an outer contact element, which covers the separating gap, and comprising joining means that pass through the separating gap. Said joining means join the contact elements to one another by means of a detent connection or clamping connection when these contact elements are brought closer to one another. The contact elements are joined in a manner that prevents them from being separated from one another. The aim of the invention is to provide an implant of the aforementioned type in which the placement is simplified and a secure joining of the contact elements is ensured. To this end, both contact elements are additionally joined by means of a filiform tensioning element, which is displaceably guided through the outer contact element and displaces the inner contact element toward the outer contact element when pulled.
