PURPOSE: A sea-island type conjugate fiber in which a coarse fineness island component is present on the inside thereof and a small fineness island component is present on the outside thereof is provided which is excellent in a touch feeling and washfastness during the manufacture of a woven/knit fabric. CONSTITUTION: A coarse fineness island component(2) is present on the inside of a sea-island type conjugate fiber comprising a sea component as an alkali-soluble polymer and a polyester island component of 0.001 to 0.3 denier continuously disposed in the direction of a fiber axis. A small fineness island component(1) is present on the outside thereof. The cross-sectional ratio between the coarse fineness island component and small fineness island component satisfies the following formula: 0.2<=S1/S2<=0.8. In formula, S1 is a cross-section of the coarse fineness island component and S2 is a cross-section of the small fineness island component. |
