The method and rail vehicle for improving railway security circuits involve detection of the presence or otherwise of a railway vehicle in a part of a section to be covered by it. It involves a voltage difference applied between two rails whereby the presence or absence of voltage difference over the part of the track is measured. The voltage difference between the rails is reduced from the vehicle actively to a predetermined value. In order to reduce the voltage difference between the rails, the rail vehicle is provided with at least two axles with wheels (1,2) on both sides for travelling over the rails and a measurement device (M) for measuring the voltage difference. To the measurement device is connected an active regulating device (R) to apply to the rails a frequency signal with complete capacity to bring the measured voltage difference to below a predetermined level.
