PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component mounter and a mounting method, in which image reading can be carried out efficiently at the time of recognizing the position of the electronic component. SOLUTION: When photographing in order to recognize the position of an electronic component during operation for holding a plurality of electronic components by means of a transfer head and mounting them on a substrate, pixel select information for delivering an image signal selectively from a specific pixel in the light-receiving section of a COMS-type sensor is generated, based on mounting schedule data 16c concerning to the mounting order of the electronic components and component data 16b concerning to the electronic components stored at a data storage section 16, a pixel select circuit 11 is operated, according to the pixel select information and an image signal is delivered from the selected pixel. According to the arrangement, an image can be read out from only a required pixel in the light-receiving section. |
