PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a projected image with high quality by a method wherein, when a projector is used, a lens shift value of a projection lens is detected and the optimum unevenness correction is applied to a projected picture. SOLUTION: An image projected on a screen 30 via a projector optical system 21 is divided, and illuminances and chromaticities at respective positions corresponding to the divided parts are measured by a correction data generating unit 26. The unit 26 detects the unevenness of the whole image, sets independently the drive levels at positions of a liquid crystal panel corresponding to the respective divided parts, and stores the set data in a memory as unevenness correction data. This operation is applied to lens shift positions of a plurality of different projection lenses 12. When a liquid crystal projector is used, the lens shift positions are detected by a lens shift position detection unit 22, the unevenness correction data corresponding to the lens shift positions are read out of the memory, and the drive level of the liquid crystal panel is determined according to the correction data corresponding to the respective positions of the liquid crystal panel. |
