PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a manufacturing cost by simplifying a structure of a latching device. SOLUTION: A latch axis 7 with a latching paw 8 is provided on a door 3 of a main body 1 of a cabinet in a manner that the latch axis 7 can rotate around an axis line 20 and a force is applied to the latching paw 8 in an engaging direction. A handle member 17 to rotate around an axis line 21 in parallel to the latch axis 7 and an activating plate 15 to reciprocate in a direction where the both axis lines 20, 21 cross are provided on the door 3. The handle member 17 works with the activating plate 15 in a manner that the activating plate 15 reciprocates through a crank rod 18 depending on the rotations of the handle member 17. Pressing or pulling a pin body 22 provided on the latch axis 7 by either of a pair of abutting parts 24, 25 provided on the activating plate 15, depending on the direction into which the activating plate 15 moves, rotates the pin body 22 only into one direction.
