PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic waste treatment method capable of efficiently generating methane gas without being accompanied with dioxins generation by solubilizing and converting organic substances such as plastics contained in organic wastes and unsuitable for anaerobic digestion into soluble organic substances and then digesting them without requiring incineration facilities of organic substances such as plastics unsuitable for anaerobic digestion. SOLUTION: The organic waste treatment method involves a first slurry production step of producing a first slurry of solid organic wastes such as garbage and the like, a fermentation unsuitable substance separation step of separating plastics, which are unsuitable for fermentation, to be carried out before or after the first slurry production step, an anaerobic digestion step of subjecting the plastics-free slurry from the first slurry production step to anaerobic digestion, a second slurry production step of producing a second slurry containing water and plastics which are separated in the fermentation unsuitable substance separation step and crushed, a solubilization step of partially decomposing the slurry from the second slurry production step by wet oxidation, and a solubilized liquid return step of supplying the solubilized liquid from the solubilization step to the anaerobic digestion step.
