PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for embodying a unified remote controller are provided to receive infrared ways output from several remote controllers, analyze inter-different infrared codes, and embody the unified remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A remote controller data downloader(200) receives an infrared ray output from a remote controller(100), converts a serial infrared signal into a parallel infrared signal, and outputs compressed frequency analysis data. The remote controller data downloader(200) receives a control signal, and outputs remote controller reproduction data synchronized to a remote controller reproduction format. A main computer(300) receives the frequency analysis data compressed in the remote controller data downloader(200), analyzes remote controller data, outputs remote controller reproduction data synchronized to the remote controller reproduction format, and outputs the control signal corresponding to the remote controller reproduction data. A unified remote controller(400) receives the remote controller reproduction data output from the remote controller data downloader(200) and performs several remote controller functions. The first communication cable(500) is installed between the remote controller data downloader(200) and the main computer(300) for mutually transmitting the compressed frequency analysis data or the remote controller reproduction data. The second communication cable(600) is installed between the remote controller data downloader(200) and the unified remote controller(400) for transmitting the remote controller reproduction data.
