PURPOSE: To provide a circumference image pickup device for a vehicle which prevents a white-out phenomenon even when an opposite vehicle is equipped with an infrared-light emitting device, and suitably receives reflected light from an infrared-light emitting device on this vehicle and picks up an image of the reflected light by an infrared camera. CONSTITUTION: The circumference image pickup device for the vehicle is equipped with an infrared lighting device 4 which irradiates the circumference of the vehicle with infrared light. Further, an infrared camera 3 is provided which receives the reflected light of the light emitted by the infrared lighting device 4 and takes a picture. Further, the device is equipped with an infrared sensor 5 which detects light of the near infrared to infrared range emitted from the circumference of the vehicle. When the infrared sensor 5 detects infrared light, the image pickup timing of the infrared camera 3 is delayed.
