PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cermet tool excellent in heat resistance and cracking resistance while maintaining plastic deformation resistance and abrasion resistance and having a long service life even in intermittent cutting, etc. SOLUTION: The cermet tool 1 has 4-20 wt.% of a total content of Ni and Co, 50-60 wt.% of a content of Ti, 30-40 wt.% of a total content of V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta and W, 5-10 wt.% of a content of C and 3-8 wt.% of a content of N. Additionally, a carbonitride phase contains particulates of a carbonitride Ti system phase more than 90 wt.% of a metallic component in which is Ti, and a proportion against a hard phase total area of a total area of the particulates in which a value of a ratio Dmax/Dmin of the maximum diameter Dmax and the minimum diameter Dmin out of the carbonitride Ti system phase particulates becomes more than 1.5 in a structure when the cross- section structure of a cermet is observed is more than 50%.
