PURPOSE: A compensating method for speed of a vehicle by a lateral speed sensor is provided to compensate vehicle speed by using a longitudinal speed reducing sensor and a lateral speed sensor. CONSTITUTION: Speed of wheel is detected by using a sensor of a wheel(S100). Reference speed is inferred by detected speed of wheel(S110). Longitudinal reducing speed and lateral speed are detected by a G(Gravity)-sensor and a lateral speed sensor(S120,S130). Reference speed is compensated by detected longitudinal reducing speed and lateral speed(S140). Thereby, speed of a vehicle is compensated though the vehicle slides and rotates on a slippery road.
