PURPOSE: To enhance gap accuracy between substrates. CONSTITUTION: A reflection plate for reflecting light made incident from one substrate of respective substrates disposed opposite to each other via a liquid crystal is formed in at least a part of a pixel area of the surface on the liquid crystal side of the other substrate, projecting and recessed parts are formed on a reflection surface of the reflection plate, a columnar spacers are formed on the surface on the liquid crystal side of the one substrate and the spacers are disposed so that the apexes of the spacers are opposed to the projecting parts.
