PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a lid lock-releasing operation if a lid lock-releasing command is input from an input setting means when a lid body is locked in a closed condition, in a washing and drying machine which controls a series of process of washing, rinsing, dewatering, and drying one after another. SOLUTION: An inner drum 4 which has a central axis of rotation in the vertical direction and is driven by a motor 10 is rotatably supported in an outer drum 3 which is elastically suspended in a steel case 1. Hot air heated by a heater 15 is sent into the inner drum 4 by a dryer blower 14 and circulated through a hot air circulating passage 18. Each process of washing, rinsing, dewatering, and drying is controlled by a controller means 44, and if the lid lock-releasing command is input from the input setting means 45 when the lid body 23 is locked in the closed condition, the dryer blower 14 blows until a temperature detecting device (thermistor) 33 detects a prescribed temperature, after that the lid lock is released.
