PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with excellent display quality. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal composition 300 held between a couple of substrates 100 and 200. The array substrate 100 is provided with a columnar space 31 of a single layer structure forming a prescribed gap between a plurality of color filter layers 24 (R, G, B) arranged for every pixel and a couple of substrates in a display area 102 for displaying an image, and also with a shade layer SP made of a resin resist with a shade property in a shade area 41 and a columnar spacer 500 of a stack structure for forming the prescribed gap between a couple of the substrates and formed by stacking a plurality of the color filter layers 24 (R, G, B) in a plurality of colors. |
