MPEG DATA RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method capable of realizing seamless high quality reproduction without causing contradiction of overflow or underflow for a connection of a VBV (Video Buffering Verifier) in the case of connection from first MPEG image data joined to second MPEG image data. SOLUTION: Data for a joint section A of first MPEG image data are decoded and then re-encoded. The re-encoding is executed under the control such that transition of an occupied value of the VBV buffer is started at the occupied value of the VBV buffer at a position (a) and finished at the occupied value of the VBV buffer at a position (d). Then the first MPEG image data are reproduced until the position (a) of the first MPEG image data, then recorded MPEG image data for the joint section A are reproduced, and then the control is taken over to the position (d) of second MPEG image data, and the second MPEG image data after the position (d) are reproduced.
